THE DESIGNER
Kifu Augousti, founder of KIFU PARIS, is a furniture designer whose work embodies a bold, independent spirit, blending traditional craftsmanship with contemporary flair. As the daughter of renowned design duo Ria and Yiouri Augousti of R&Y Augousti, Kifu was immersed in the world of design from an early age, experimenting with materials like shagreen, shells, and semi-precious stones in her parents’ studio. This early exposure laid the foundation for her distinctive aesthetic, characterized by elaborate inlay patterns and a youthful, quirky style that sets her apart from her predecessors.
After attending Sarah Lawrence College, Kifu established KIFU PARIS, a lifestyle collection of home accessories and furniture that reflects her unique design sensibility. Her pieces often feature “jewelry-inspired knobs” on decorative boxes, gold bar shapes, and wild patterns inspired by the feathers of exotic birds, showcasing her penchant for intricate details and unconventional materials.
Kifu’s personal style is as distinctive as her designs. She views fashion as a form of art and self-expression, often opting for daring sartorial choices such as corset tops, leather motorcycle jackets, and sheer dresses by designers like Nensi Dojaka. Her close friendship with Belgian designer Olivier Theyskens, known for his meticulous craftsmanship, has further influenced her fashion choices, with Theyskens creating bespoke outfits tailored to her statuesque frame.
Her Parisian home in the 7th arrondissement reflects her eclectic taste, blending antiques from around the world with contemporary pieces from her own collection. The space is adorned with iconic items from R&Y Augousti and sculptural candles by her husband, Patrick Coard, creating an atmosphere described as “bohemian luxury.”
Through KIFU PARIS, Kifu Augousti continues to push the boundaries of design, creating pieces that are both whimsical and elegant, and that bring a fresh perspective to the world of luxury interiors.
